NiLu, a small black owned gift shop in Harlem, reaches the "five years in business" milestone during a tough retail climate.
Wife and Husband, Katrina Parris Pinn and Mark Pinn, are the owners of Harlem's Gift Shop, NiLu. Named after their two boys Nigel and Luke, NiLu is located at 191 Malcolm X Boulevard (betw. 119th & 120th St.). A few blocks from 125th street, the shop is within the historic district of Mount Morris Park.
NiLu offers big box store shopping with curated unique gifts that are thoughtful and hard to find such as Harlem Branded Clutches, 70% cacao chocolate bars from Harlem-Trinidadian owned Sol Cacao, luxury candles from Harlem Candle Co. and 125 Collection. Even vegan soaps and body butters from Flo & Theo and artwork by Harlemite Makeba Rainey.
At NiLu, we practice “meaningful gifting”. A lot of the items that you see in the store are purposeful with a story behind it. Sharing these stories creates a sense of pride and trust that drives our customers to return for all their gift giving needs.
When you step into NiLu, you are greeted by the scent of candles and diffusers, soulful music and intentional merchandising. The shop's personal touch comes from Katrina's experience as a floral event designer/owner, transforming spaces for countless weddings, Swarovski Crystals, and Bad Boy Entertainment.
NiLu has stepped into 2020 aiming to expand the local brand selection, release more authentic gift guides, life balancing content, and maker interviews as well as host maker pitch nights and events for new artists and creatives. We hope to see you at NiLu!
